An area affected by a chemical reaction has been reopened. The affected area has been reopened. The actual release area was limited to the immediate area of the facility. A Shelter in place advisory has been canceled.

One person who was exposed to the chemical when the accident happened was put through decontamination and transported to the burn center in Augusta after apparently inhaling the chemical. No word on his condition.

Dalton police and Dalton Fire responded to a chemical reaction that happened a short while ago at MFG Chemical on Kimberly Park Drive. Willowdale Road, Kimberly Park Drive, and Crow Valley Road are all closed. The chemical is not poisonous but is an irritant and can be smelled on Highway 41. One person on the scene had to be decontaminated.
