Murray County Sheriff Gary Langford is urging parents to attend a forum sponsored by his office and The Chatsworth Times on Monday evening.

Langford and Detective Brett Morrison will conduct the forum which will be held at Holyy Creek Baptist Church on Monday, July 7 at 7 p.m.

“We will be providing information to parents concerning the safety of their children online,” Morrison said. “In light of the recent convictions of child predators, many of whom contact their victims through the internet, we felt that we could provide parents with tips and actions that could save thier children from being victims.”

Morrison said there will be a brief presentation and the floor would be open for questions.

“Information presented at the forum will be very graphic,” Morrison said. “It’s not suitable for young children.”

Morrison will be addressing internet predators and the ways they find children and contact them.

Many of the socail sites such as Facebook, Instagram and others are used by predators.

Morrison was a member of the Northwest Georgia Crimes Against Children Task Force which consisted of local law enforcement officers and FBI agents.
