The Georgia DOT urges motorists in Murray County to watch out for the message board at the closing points of US 411 and signs along the detour route. “We certainly hope that all motorists watch out for these detour signs and be extra cautious while approaching this work zone,” said DeWayne Comer, district engineer at the Georgia DOT office in Cartersville.
Work on this project to rehabilitate the bridge on SR 2/Us 411 over CSX railroad in Murray County has just begun and is expected to be completed by the end of September 2014, at a construction cost of nearly $494,975.
Georgia DOT urges travelers to call 511 for updated information about this or any other construction project on interstates and state routes. Georgia 511 is a free phone service that provides real-time traffic and travel information statewide, such as traffic conditions, incidents, lane closures, and delays due to inclement weather. Callers also can transfer to operators to request assistance or report incidents 24 hours a day, seven days a week. More information is available at www.511ga.org.
