A Murray County man is in jail afer authorities executed a search warrant at his home last week.

Charles Justin Jones, 31, of 306 Old Highway 2, Cisco was arrested by the MCSO and charged with possession of firearm or knife while trying to commit crimes, possession of marijuana less than one ounce, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug related object and destructive device.

Murray County Sheriff’s Office Detective Tim Bell said that authorities were called out to the residene last Thursday just before 1 p.m.

“There was a call of a medical emergency,” Bell said. “When a deputy answered the call he encountered a male outside and entered the home and found a female laying on the floor.”

The woman, Staci Winkler, died and her body transported to the state crime lab for autopsy. A cause of death will not be available until after toxicology test results are submitted which could take six weeks or longer.

Early reports indicate the death could have been overdose.

“Drug paraphenalia and weapons were observed in the residence and we executed a search warrant,” Bell said.

Marijuana, methamphetamine, a number of guns as well as a grenade were located in the home.

“We called the GBI bomb squad and they took the grenade to the driving range off Higfhway 2 and detonated it,” Bells said.

The MCSO and GBI are investigating the incident.

At press time Jones was being held at the Murray County Jail without bond as he had not yet requested a bond hearing.
