Qualifying for Board of Education seats ends, for second time due to map error

Due to a mishap in the mapping of districts, qualifying for the Board of Education seats up for election was held a second time last week.

According to the Murray County Elections Office, the following people qualified:

Board of Education Dist. 5

Frank R. Loyd qualified as a Republican as did Incumbent J. “Robbie” Moore.

Board of Education Dist. 6

Timothy “Tim” Howard qualified as a Democrat and Richard “Heath” Jones qualified as a Republican.

Board of Education Dist. 7

Incumbent Jackie L. Rogers qualified as a Republican and David T. Long qualified as a Democrat.

In other local races, Incumbent Chief Magistrate Judge Gale Buckner qualified for the post as did former part-time magistrate judge Dwayne Hooper.

For Conasauga Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge, Incumbent David Blevins, Scott Helton and Jim Wilbanks qualified for the post.
