Crash kills one, injures driver

The Georgia State Patrol’s Special Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) is investigating a one-car crash that happened last Wednesday afternoon on Brown Bridge Road.

According to reports from the Georgia State Patrol, 74-year-old Robert Bowers was driving when the vehicle left the roadway on the right side and struck a culvert.

Bowers was airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center.

Bowers’ wife, 70-year-old JoAnn Bowers, was a passenger in the car and died from injuries sustained in the crash.

An exact cause for the crash has not yet been determined, but authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs to be factors in the crash which happened around 2:30 p.m.
