The wall has the names of all law enforcement officers, local, state and federal, that have died in the line of duty in the state of Georgia.
Chatsworth police officer 20 year old Cole Martin’s name is on the wall. Martin died while on patrol ten years ago. He was patrolling a business that had recently been burglarized and the swing arm of a gate went through his patrol car.
Martin was the nephew of current Chatsworth Police Chief Terry Martin and his father, Tony Martin, was a former Chatsworth Police Chief who went on to retire from the Georgia State Patrol.
There are more than 690 names on the wall which is sponsored by the Blue Knight Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club Georgia Chapter 7 and the Georgia Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors.
Murray County Sheriff Benjamin Keith’s name is on the wall. Keith was shot in 1907.
He was attempting to bring in a subject suspected of murder in Fannin County.
Keith made the arrest and put the man in jail but died from his own injuries five days later.
The names on the wall are those belonging to any officer who died while on duty whether it be from natural causes or accidents as well.
