Events will be held at the Eton City Park from September 27-29.
“Please bring your family out and support our community’s event,” said Mayor Billy Cantrell in this month’s newsletter. “It is shaping up to be a great festival plus we have our July fireworks in September on Saturday night at dark. Friday night at the Festival will include entertainment by comedy hypnotist, Steve Meade. This promises to be a hilarious show and admission is free!
“We have regretfully cancelled the “Chaos” haunted house this year but plan to bring it back bigger and better next year.”
There will be a ride for the kids and numerous other scheduled events. Please see next week’s Chatsworth Times for a full listing of events.
In Chatsworth, it’s Scarecrow Mania. Scarecrows are popping up all over the downtown area business section along Highway 411. There will be a judging contest and winners will be announced during the Black Bear Festival on Oct. 19.
To enter the contest, an application form must be filled out. Those can be obtained at Chatsworth City Hall or the Chatsworth-Eton-Murray Chamber of Commerce. Groups and individuals not located off Hwy 411 can still enter the contest by placing a scarecrow downtown.
To be eligible for the contest, scarecrows must be tagged with the name of the group or individual for judges.
The judging will take place Oct. 1-3.
Creators are responsible for maintaining and removing scarecrows, which must be removed by Sat., Nov. 3.
The Chamber will also award a “People’s Choice” award from votes cast on the Chamber’s Facebook page.
