The proclamation reads as follows:
Commemorating 100 years of Service-The Chatsworth Times
Whereas, 100 years ago Lewis and Porter Hufstetler published the first edition of the Chatsworth Times on June 5, 1913; and
Whereas, Coincidentally the County Seat was moved from Spring Place to Chatsworth in 1913; and
Whereas, the Chatsworth Times has stood the test of time by outlasting other short-lived publications such as: The North Georgia Citizen, The Murray County Gazette, The Spring Place Times, The North Georgia Times, the Spring Place Journal and several others; and
Whereas, The Chatsworth Times has served as the legal organ of Murray County, the City of Chatsworth and the City of Eton since 1913; and
Whereas, The Chatsworth Times has helped all Murray County residents celebrate accomplishments and victories, deal with difficulties and disappointments and mourn losses through their diligent reporting of the news; and
Whereas, it is the desire of the Murray County Government, the City of Chatsworth and the City of Eton to recognize and honor such entities that have contributed so much to the service of our community; and
Whereas, The Chatsworth Times has made many significant and worthwhile contributions to our community, it is only fitting and proper that we recognize those contributions in an appropriate fashion.
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Commissioner of Murray County, the Mayor and Council of Chatsworth and the Mayor and Council of Eton that we officially recognize and celebrate their centennial anniversary.
Be it further resolved that we all ask that all citizens of Murray County to join in this significant celebration.
