According to a report by deputy Tammy West, she had been dispatched to a call of assault on George Cowart Road.
“Matt Maples flagged me down at the Stallions Convenience Store,” reported West. “Mr. Maples stated that his friend for eight to ten years lived on George Cowart Road. He was at his residence. Someone had told his friend that Matt had been making out with his wife. Mr. Maples stated a Mock subject was involved. At that time, a gray van turned from Old Federal Road and headed west on Highway 52.”
West notified the Chatsworth police department via radio and attempted to catch the van.
“As I was trying to catch up to the vehicle, I saw the van turn into a driveway...and a body was lying partially in the roadway,” West reported.
CPR was attempted on the victim, which was determined to be Michael Mock, but attmepts were unsuccessful.
Preliminary reports indicate that the van belonged to a Cleveland, GA resident and she had loaned the van to Jack Mock and Justin Shutley.
A witness told authorities that someone had thrown a bag out of the vaan. A witness also told authorities that a body had been pushed out of the van.
The investigation is continuing.
